What can I do to prepare for a ballet class?
September 1st, 2009 Posted by: admin
Okay I’m 13 and really hoping to start ballet soon. I don’t know much about it at all mostly just from movies…like center stage. I don’t have shoes yet but I really want to start and prepare for a class. Without shoes what exercises can i still do? And how are you supposed to stand on your toes when dancing and stuff? Is it like the very very tips or your flat toes on the ground with your heels raised? And do you think I am starting to late?

i think i tore a muscle and i have ballet lesson tomorrow what should i do?

several months ago i was practising stretching with my friend. we tried the one which you open your legs into a v-shape and you lean forward as far as you can. and well, i’m quite stiff about that so i asked her to push me down, and she did. and i felt a very sharp pain in the area underneath my thighs, it hurted so much i nearly cried. and then after that my legs have never felt right.
then 2 days before i was stretching myself in my room, and i sorta forced myself down, in frustration. because everyone in my class could do it. then it hurt a lil, when i stood up.
and today i tried to just lay on my side and open my legs up to ninety degrees (which i usually have no problem doing) and i felt sharp pains. it was totally unbearable. then i tried to do the splits and the usual stuff and i just went to half the point i used to get.

i have ballet class tmr,and another one the day after tomorrow. i’m really scared because i don’t want to miss them. but we have to do all these stretches before the actual workout. help! i’m 14!

Am I too old to start Ballet? 14?
August 27th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I just signed up for a ballet class at a new dance studio. I’m 14 and have never done it before, but I’ve pretty flexible, to a degree and have been cheerleading for 2 years. The dance instructor put me in ballet level 3 so I could be with other girls my age. Now though, I’m getting cold feet. I’ve always been picked on that I’m not graceful (although I disagree). I’m terrified that I’ll look like a complete fool. Should I just ask my parents to take me out of the class? Am I too old to start now, especially at that level? What can I do to prepare?

Ballet Questions?
August 22nd, 2009 Posted by: admin
I’m 13 and I’m in ballet, today will be my 3rd ballet class. I only go once a week for an hour. I would really like to get en pointe, but I don’t know how much I can progress with just one class a week. I’m just in teen adult ballet, theirs no specific level and it’s not just beginner. Our teacher sais she can move us up levels if were really good, but she still has to see how good we are. All the dance studios in my area only have one day a week classes in ballet, unless your like in level 5. So what should I do? How do I get better, and go en pointe faster?
Also, do the barre excersises get easier? Like right now all the combinations are kinda confusing, do they get easier and more fun once you know what your doing? Thanks!!!

I am trying out for an NBA dance team this summer - What dance classes should I take to sharpen up?
August 19th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I have experience with dance and cheerleading, but I haven’t taken any serious dance lessons since high school (I’m in my early twenties now). I am debating about whether to take a jazz or ballet class to sharpen up on pirouettes and other basic moves. What do you all think is the best way to prepare?

starting ballet,lyrical.etc.help?
August 17th, 2009 Posted by: admin
alright. Ive been taking dance since a young age but stopped about 3 yrs ago. Im 14 now,and I really want to get back into it,,but more seriously now. I know I’ll have to start almost completely over, and Im willing to work extra hard. I was just looking for some suggestions on how I should start..
I want to try Lyrical(don’t know much about it..but interested.could someone maybe explain it more?), and maybe a Ballet class,,I will be taking Jazz for sure.
I’ve always wanted to be in my dance studio’s Company class, but I dont think Im good enough yet/ready. I don’t know. Can someone just help straighten things out a bit..?

Leotard w/ large chest?
July 24th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I am taking a college ballet class after a 7 year hiatus. l have kept up in every area of dance except my classical ballet training. I’m 20 now and its safe to say my leotards from ph grade don’t fit me anymore. I’m a size 2 but with a 32D chest. I’m concerned because I’m afraid I’ll pop out or won’t have enough support when it comes to leotards. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fie this? Tips, tricks, or places where l can find supportive leotards? thanks!
